It's official: one of the most hackintosh-friendly netbooks, the Dell Inspiron Mini 9, is no more.

Dell has knocked the 9in machine on the head, preferring instead to point punters at the 10in Mini 10 and Mini 10v.

The latter offers the same spec as the Mini 9, but with a bigger screen and keyboard, and a 160GB hard drive. What's not to like? asks Dell.

Well, for us, the 1024 x 576 display, that's 24 pixels shorter than the already limited 1024 x 600 screen the Mini 9 had.

You can have a bigger screen, but you have to put up with the Atom Z530 processor and a higher price tag.

And, according to Boing Boing's guide to netbook hackintosh compatibility, the 10v isn't as Mac OS X friendly as the Mini 9 was... ®
